Knowing that a bustier is a "large" isn't going to help much, since sizes vary as much in bustiers/corsets as they do in other clothing Decide if you want a corset or bustier. A corset is designed to reign in your body. They can be worn for many hours on end and can be used to 'waist-train', which is changing the shape of your body to a more hourglass figure. This is only safe under the right supervision. A bustier, on the other hand, reigns in your body ONLY while you are wearing it. As soon as you remove the item your body will go back to its regular shape. Bustiers are the most common, cheapest and easiest option, though corsets are likely to last longer (as they are MADE to be worn in extreme circumstances) Find a measuring tape and measure your waist. This is the narrowest part of your torso, regardless of where you wear your pants or where your hips are. My waist is high, so I measure almost immediately under my rib cage Use this measurement to find a corset or bustier to your size. A bustier should be around 6cm smaller than your actual waist, in order to create a cinching effect. A corset can be even smaller than this as it needs to be VERY tight to change your body shape Again, I stress, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAIN YOUR WAIST WITHOUT PROPER MEDICAL ADVICE AND SUPERVISION Choose your corset or bustier. There are so many styles to choose from. Some are sexy, some are classy, some are cute and some are dark and gothic. It all depends on your style and taste. Choose more than one if you like, and give yourself a range of options next time you're going out Untie the ribbons or lacing at the back. Put the corset on. Clip it up in the front (most bustiers have back lacing and steel hook and eye clips at the front). Have someone tighten the back. This is done by pulling on the laces like you are doing up shoes. Try and hold the laces tight with the other hand while pulling, or it may loosen again. If you are wearing a bustier ensure you do not tighten too much as it is NOT made for extreme wear, only corsets are. Have them tie a bow at the top. You may wish to tie it in a double knot to ensure it does not undo while you are wearing it Now you should be able to take off and put on the corset by undoing and doing the hook and eye closures at the front. It may require you to "suck in" while you do it but if you have tightened the bustier correctly you will not have any problems with this step. If you are wearing a corset and will be wearing it tightly, you will likely always require assistance in tightening the lacing Stand back and admire. Now accessorise! Corsets and bustiers go with almost any clothing items, from jeans to skirts to shorts. You are only limited by your imagination! And don't forget the finishing touches - stockings, hats, gloves and hair accessories How toMake Your Own Corset: If you don't have your own corset pattern already, click on the link in the Resources section below. Input your measurements to generate a corset pattern specifically for you Lay your fabric out on a flat surface. Use the straight pins to pin the pattern to the fabric along the edges Trace the edges of the pattern all the way around, effectively marking the line you will sew. Cut out the fabric around the pattern at least one inch from the edge. This will create the seam allowance for your corset Take the piece that you have just cut out and place it on top of another length of fabric. Use this as a template for your second panel. Cut out the second panel to the same dimensions as the first, making sure to leave the seam allowances Place one of the panels you have just created on top of the liner fabric. Repeat the step above to create two liner panels for your corset Pin together one of the outer corset panels and one of the liner panels. Make sure to keep the right sides together. Sew along the pattern line, leaving a small gap at one end. Turn it inside out through the gap so the liner is in the right place Fold the gap seam in and sew it closed. Then, sew a top seam around the whole panel. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 for the second panel and liner Using a fabric pencil or crayon, make a mark 1 inch in from the front seam of the corset. This will mark the placement of your eyelets. Continue making marks 1 inch apart and 1 inch in, straight down the panel where your eyelets will go. Repeat this step for the second panel Cut a hole for each mark where you will insert your eyelets on your corset. Make sure to keep the holes a little smaller than the size of the eyelets. If the holes are too big, you won't be able to insert the eyelets into the corset properly Insert an eyelet into each of the holes from the inner side. The rounded edge of the eyelet should be visible on the front side of the corset panel. Turn the panel over and insert the eyelet setter. Hammer the eyelet into place by tapping a few times with the hammer. Repeat for all holes on both panels Place the panels' right sides together and sew them up the back. Put the corset on and use the ribbon to lace it up through the eyelets Package Included: * 1 x Women Bustier
