Specific dimension varies from person to person A Tutorial for a Tank Dress With an Attached Scarf: Lay a tank top on a flat surface and measure approximately 1-1/2 inches below the seams at the underarms. If you have a larger bust, measure between two and three inches below the underarm seams. Draw a line across the front of the tank top and cut the tank top at the line. Trace a rectangle onto a piece of fabric that measures 40 inches by 30 inches. If you would like a longer dress, add additional length to the 30-inch measurement. Turn the fabric so that the wrong side is facing up. Begin pleating the fabric. Start halfway down the material and fold over approximately 1/4-inch of material and pin it in place at the top edge. Pin 1/4-inch of material approximately every three inches until you reach the edge of the fabric. Go back to the first pleat made and insert an additional pin approximately five inches from the top edge. This will be the top of the pleat. Repeat this step for each of the pleats. Sew each of the pleats using a straight stitch on a sewing machine or by hand. Turn the fabric back over again so that the wrong side is facing downward. Fold the fabric in half. Fold it so that the material maintains its 30-inch length but reduces the width. Pin the edges together and sew them using a straight stitch. Leave approximately a 1/4-inch of fabric beyond the seam. Fold over the seam and use an iron to flatten it against the fabric. Turn the top of the tank top wrong-side out and pin it to the top of the fabric skirt with the pleats. Sew the pieces together using a straight or zigzag stitch. Leave approximately a 1/4-inch of fabric past the seam. Fold over the seam and use the iron to flatten it against the pleated material. Turn the dress right-side out. Trace a rectangle onto a large piece of jersey knit fabric that measures approximately 72 inches by 18 inches. Cut the edges carefully because no hemming is necessary for this scarf. Try on the dress and measure the distance from the tank top straps to the center of the back of your neck. Fold the jersey scarf in half to find the center and measure the distance from the center to the measurement obtained in the previous step. Pin the jersey scarf in place on one strap and sew it in place from underneath. Repeat this step for the other strap. Tips & Warnings: When the dress is completed, you can decorate the area where the two fabrics join with a 1-1/2-inch wide ribbon. Measure the circumference of the dress and cut a piece of ribbon to a length approximately two feet longer than the circumference. Pin the ribbon in place and turn the dress wrong-side out to sew the ribbon to the dress. Tie the excess ribbon in a bow at the back of the dress. Package Included: 1 x Women Tank Dress
